14 Top Wealth Creation Speakers Band Together at Learn-A-Thon 2011 in Aid of Regional Flood Victims
Social Media Driven Philanthropic Initiative Expects to Draw in 2,000 Attendees at Kallang Theatre and Raise S$100,000
Singapore – Tuesday, 22 November 2011 — 14 of the Asia regions top wealth creation and motivational speakers are banding together in a charity initiative, which seeks to bring relief to the victims of recent flooding disasters in Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines. The Learn-A-Thon 2011 will take place at 7pm on Monday, 28 November 2011 at Kallang theatre. Entrance is completely free-of-charge and the event is expected to pull in around 2,000 participants at the 3-hour seminar event. A key official is
expected to be the Guest-Of-Honour at the event.
The 14 top wealth creation speakers are Boyd Au, Arthur Camazzi, Ken Chee, Andrew Chow, Mike Handcock, Adam Khoo, Wendy Kwek, Jaz Lai, Dave Rogers, Ken Sapp, KC See, Jerome Tan, Yang Po Tan and Jim Khoo, all of whom are giving their time and expertise free-of-charge for the good cause.
The Learn-A-Thon 2011 is the brainchild of Patrick Liew, CEO of HSR International Realtors Pte Ltd and a well-known figure on the Singapore speaking and motivational industry circuit. The entire event has been pulled together by a committee of 17 likeminded philanthropic individuals within just the space of two weeks, being virtually entirely driven by social media especially Face Book and the www.
Learn-A-Thon is expected to raise S$100,000 in aid relief for Bangkok flood victims, which will be disbursed through Singapore-based regional relief charity Mercy Relief. Funds will be raised through a combination of ways. Firstly, participants will be invited to contribute to Singapore’s largest ever montage of currency notes, which is expected to raise the initial S$20,000 assuming each participant contributes a S$10 note to the montage. Secondly there will be a voluntary contribution during the course of the 3-hour seminar. Thirdly, there will be an auction of two of Patrick Liew’s own acrylic paintings and other auction items. The organizer will accept both cash and cheques from contributors.
Learn-A-Thon participants will in return receive a door gift worth S$2,000 in the form of a 3-day course on ‘the Millionaire Mindset’ as well as other products and services, plus there will be opportunities to register for other courses by the 14 celebrity wealth creation speakers at substantial discount over the published course prices.
In addition to the fund-raising and 14 wealth creation talks, there will also be opportunities for individual and group prayer for the victims of the Thai, Cambodian and Philippines floods. One novelty aspect of the speakers’ appearances will be that they will all be dressed in the garb of ‘flood victims’ themselves, bandaged and in rags and soaked in floodwaters! Several of the speakers, like Arthur Camazzi, Mike Handcock and KC See, are flying in from overseas especially to take part in the event.
Many of the other speakers are Singapore-based. Said Patrick Liew, Learn-A-Thon 2011’s organiser and main driver, “We in the Learn-AThon Organizing Committee all felt strongly that we wanted to try to do something practical to alleviate the suffering of our regional neighbours in these times of natural disaster, so a wealth creation seminar seemed like an initiative we could quickly stage since we are mostly all involved in the motivational seminar industry already.”
“The funds raised by the Learn-A-Thon will be donated to Mercy Relief and will mostly go towards humanitarian relief, clean up and reconstruction efforts after the waters have subsided, which is where international aid contributions will be most welcomed. Since all our celebrity speakers are giving freely of their time towards the initiative, we urge participants show their appreciation for the wealth-creation knowledge being imparted by giving generously with a big heart,” said Mr. Liew.
The beneficiary charity Mercy Relief was established in 2003 as an independent and nongovernmental humanitarian charity in 2003 and is involved in ongoing humanitarian efforts in 20 countries throughout the Asia region. Its Advisor is Mr. Abdullah Tarmugi and its senior committee members are also well known philanthropic figures in government and the private sector.
